About Us
Hunt
Communication began doing business
as Bacon & Hunt from Portland, Oregon's
historic Blagan Block Building in 1983.
Tom
Hunt founded the firm with Tony Bacon
as a full service public relations company. The
early foundation of the business was energy-
related, but it broadened to include waste management, telecommunications,
health care and program management.
The
company has served the needs of scores of clients by providing
a variety of communication services designed to meet measurable
strategic objectives. Today, Hunt Communication specializes in
public relations, issues management, crisis communications, marketing
strategies and internal communications. Clients have included
Westinghouse, BP Exploration, the U.S. Department of Energy, PeaceHealth,
Adidas Golf, Battelle and Illuminet.
Company
principal Tom Hunt began his career as a working journalist and
as a press secretary in the U.S. House of Representatives. Following
his years as a news anchor, where he learned the responsibilities
and power of the press, Tom has worked to influence and inform
target audiences on behalf of his clients. He sharpened his skills
working for seven years as an advocate for the nuclear power industry.
From Three Mile Island to Chernobyl he developed crisis communication
skills and learned how to craft message strategies and tactics
to get those messages effectively delivered. He honed his management
skills as director of public affairs and information for a large
construction utility where he managed more than 100 employees
with responsibility for all government, media, internal and external
information. He is a skilled trainer in the art of public speaking,
making effective presentations and communicating with the news
media.
Tom
is a past chairman and current member of the professional advisory
board to the Edward R. Murrow School of Communication at Washington
State University. He is also a trustee of the WSU Foundation.
